Background:
Madison was born shortly before the apocalypse and has a few fleeting memories of living above ground, before his scientist parents along with other researchers moved him into an underground intentional community, where the children were taught a variety of disciplines based on their aptitudes. Madison was gifted in the areas of math and science and quickly stood out as a brilliant mind.

The underground community lasted for twenty-five years, but eventually the younger generation preferred to live above ground and risk the violent encounters with other survivors in exchange for the feeling of sunshine and rain on their faces. The remaining founders of the community as well as a few younger members eventually sealed the entrance to their home in 2080, leaving Madison and others forever on the outside. Around this time he met Michael Miller, a man with a startling similar background. The two fell in love and began working on improving the extremely rare drug jack, which had just begun to become available in the Greater Rivertown area. At that time users of the drug risked permanent psychosis due to the intensity of the effect, and Madison and Miller sought to create a more fluid, controllable experience.

Madison was killed in December 2112 buying jack from a dealer the men had worked with for years; the seller was under the influence of a tainted batch of his own product and shot Madison in the face, killing him instantly.
